Virtualization -Emerging technology Ahead

Virtualization is the platform which founded to minimize the component and maintanance cost without loosing the performance. In virtualization the physical machine is divided into muliple logical partions and each component will act as a indudival machine. This is the emerging technology in the current IT trend , now most of the datacentres and servers are virtualized. In virtualization the host operating system will be installed and in this the vitual machine will be created and each of them will be used as a indudival server.

Why Virtualization:
Lets consider one example you want to deploy one corporate environment for this you are in need for 5 servers. So you will be purchasing the 5 servers from vendor and the in this you dont need the space of those server. So in such case You can buy 2 servers one is for production and other for fail-over cluster. In main server you just install the host operating system such as (VMWARE or HyperV).In that create the instance for 5 virtual machines and you can make the each virtual machine as an individual server. So by this we can reduce the number of servers and cost of servers and space too.
Types of vitualization.
1.Hardware Virtualization
2.Application Virtualization
3.Desktop Virtualization
4.Storage Virtualization

Virtualization can be done with the help of two giant one is Hyper V it is the product
of Microsoft and other is VM ware is the separate product. The Hyper V is the new technology which
is used only in Windows server 2008.

Virtualization - The Best practice
By this virtualization we can minimize the product cost and we can obtain the maximum
utilization of the resources in the efficient manner.

How to enable remote desktop

This is one of the coolest way to use the far computer or server in the network by using the remote desktop connection. This is feature which is inbuilt in the Windows XP version and also in servers. By this facility you can take the remote desktop without using any third party tools. To avail this first this is you have to activate the remote desktop connection in the system.
How to enable the remote desktop.

1.Right click on the My computer and go to properties and click on the remote tab.
2. In the remote assistance segment Check the option allow the remote assistance invitation to be sent from this computer.
3. And in the advanced tab select the time period.

4.In the remote desktop segment check the allow users to connect remotely to this computer and if you want to specify the users to access your computer via remote desktop select the users in the select remote users tab.
Note: Before activating the remote desktop connection disable the windows firewall(advice able).
If you cant able to take the remote session after enabling the remote desktop you should check where the remote desktop port status 3389 is open or not. Because mostly the port will close for security reasons.
If you are using the Broadband at your home if you want to remotely access your system by this you can’t able to take the remote desktop by this you have to use the third party software’s like.

1.Team Viewer.
2.VNC.
3.Cisco WebEx

Client server methodologies

A few decades back while trying to communicate and share the data with other computers they developed the concept of networking. In this they introduced Client server model. The difference between the client and the server is the client will send the request and the server will respond to it. Not only the above case, there is a separate operating for client and the server. The client server methodologies falls into the below categories
Centralized processing
In the centralized processing there is a Centralized server each and every request will be sent to the centralized server and the request will be processed and the in turn server will respond to the client. In this case more bandwidth will be utilized so they went for distributed procession.
Distributed processing
In distributed processing there will be distributed servers to handle each and every request .For example separate server for web application ,DHCP ,DNS ,ADS .In this methodology there are two classification

Peer to Peer
In the peer to peer computing all the system will be connected to each other there will not be dedicated server when the system responds to the request then it will acts as a server when it send the request that time it will acts as a client ( i.e.) each and every system will acts as a client server.
Client server
In this methodology there will be a server either it may be a Microsoft or Linux or else UNIX operating system server and each server will be having it own clients these servers will respond to their clients requests.

Validate the status of PORT

To find status of port:
How to find the port status of the particular machine or a server wheather the port is open or not.It can be determined by using the third party software but with the third party software, but the question is how to find the status the port withour third party softwawre the answer for this question is obviouly yes.Without the third party installation we can find the port status of the particular machine by using the network protocol called telent. It is the protocol which is used to create a virual terminal connection in network.

The port number for this protocol is 23.Lets see how to find the port status
go to the particular machine open the command line. And type the fallowing command

telnet (machine ip) portno

In the above code the machine ip give the ip address of the machine which you want to find the port status and give the port number you want to find.

After executing this suddenly the comman prompt with fullof back will appear it seems that the port is open or else the error will appear it shows the port is in closed state.

Features of Windows server 2008

Special Features of Windows server 2008
I am really excited to write this topic because, I am fond of computers, servers and this makes to learn windows server 2008 and to write this topic.Windows server 2008 is the one of the best operating system that Microsoft ever
released and this OS include many features although its having many since it's market
is no good.
Let me shoot out some of them by this it can be famous in future. This includes

Core Server compatibility

This is the server mode by which you can operate your server in command mode.
Only thing is you should be good in commands

Windows Virtualization

IN older version of Microsoft for virtualization we have to go for the third party
vendors like Vmware or citrix but in windows 2008 there is a inbuilt package for
virtualization named as Hyperv.

Rich enabled Terminal services

Windows 2008 includes the richer terminal services by this you can make the parallel
session but in 2003 you have to purchase the license for each session but in 2008
basically you can have 4 parallel sessions.

WHEA- (windows hardware error architecture)

It is one of the best feature by this the hardware error can be reported by using
the single interface and with output of that interface we can detect the problems.

Power shell

This feature is for the user who is master in scripting by this you can develop the
features by kernel level coding. This feature is similar as shell scripting in Linux.

And not only the above listed features in server 2008 and also it contains more
features like remote desktop administration and this makes the administrator more
comfortable in administration. Now Microsoft has released Windows server 2008 R2 it
is more reliable than earlier version 2008 and these versions of server are
compactable with IPV6 ip address.

why linux servers are mostly used than windows servers

Now-a-days the linux servers are mostly used than the windows servers as the market grows rapidly the linux servers are mostly used, this can be studies by the following news whereas the shipment of the windows server incresed upto 28% and the linux server shipment has gone from 30.3% to 1.8 billion and in the overall revenew in the server side is done by linux servers only and its contribution is 16.8%.
Due to the following reasons the linux servers are more perfered than the windows servers

1.The first thing that the linux servers are more reliable by this functionality it can run upto many years without crashing and inface linux servers had never seen a crash. And it can work and can handle more clients than the windows servers. And the downtime is lower in case of linux servers and thats why the restart is not necessary and incase of windows servers the defragmentaion should be done and this is not done in the linux servers so that the stablity of the linux server is more than the windows servers
2.And the major adcantage in case of the linux servers are the centralized administrations since it built based on the unix these servers are more seure than the windows servers.
3.Since the linux is the open source there is no restriction in this servers so that these servers provide more freedom choosing the package than the windows servers
4.And the main thing is the linux operating systems and the softwares used are cost free and in case of the corporate versions it will be more cheapers than the windows server softwares and operating systems
5.In case of the Windows servers there shouls be the frequent update in the hardware components due the expansion of the resources but in the case of the linux servers there is no updation in the harware utlities nad the linux servers can be reconfigured easily than the windows servers.
